Rules 2-7 Triple Draw
The game is a limit game and is played with blinds and a batton. Everyone is dealt five closed cards and then a round of betting takes place, starting with the player to the left of the big blind. The turn moves clockwise, each player can send cards in to pass, raise, or call. At the end of the trade, the first round of exchanges begins, starting with the player to the left of the big blind. Up to five cards can be traded. There are three rounds in total, with each round being traded and cards exchanged. At the end of the last round there is a showdown, if necessary.
Determining the winner in Triple Draw
Triple Draw refers to a form of Lowball. This means that the winner of the weakest hand wins in the showdown. However, in Triple Drops, the definition of the Low Combination is quite different from the rest of the game. It’s important to remember that an ace is always considered the highest card, and the straight and flush are counted when determining the combination. Therefore, with the “wheel” you can play poker online for free except as a bluff, and the strongest combination in Triple Dro is not a one-handed hand 23457. You could say that the weaker your hand would be in Hold’em, the stronger it is in Triple Draw.
Note: If there are no cards left in the deck to provide an exchange, the cards already discarded by players are kneaded and dealt again. Keep in mind that players are more likely to discard high cards, so you might want to hold off on exchanges if you’re shuffling.
A bit about strategy
When you play Triple Draw, you’ll want to avoid any hands that might require more than two exchanges to make a strong hand.
- Nuts Hands. If you’re dealt a 7 or 8 high, you should play it aggressively before the first exchange, since refusing to exchange on the first round of bidding will make your hand face-up (obvious), and you may not get paid your bets anymore. There’s no point in sloping.
- One exchange. Four low cards are considered strong starting hands in Triple Drops, and you should play them as aggressively as possible. However, you have to watch out for straight draw hands; for example, for x4567, only twos and nines are outs that can make your hand stronger. Note that if there is a multi-pot in the hand, your chances of getting a deuce or three are greatly reduced, since the low cards are probably already dealt to other players.
- Bluffing. Unlike most limit games, bluffing in Triple Draw is a very important part of the game, since many hands don’t make it to showdown. For example, if a player has traded more than one card, the odds of buying a strong hand are very low and it is worth considering not exchanging and bluffing. In general, it’s important to keep a close eye on your opponents’ exchanges and be clear about the impression your actions make on your opponents.
